In Slavic mythology, pebbles found in fields, called “Stone Babas,” were seen as sacred objects with extraordinary power. The earth’s constant movement would unearth these stones, and peasants regarded their appearance as mystical. They cared for the stones, offering sacrifices to nourish the soil and ensure a bountiful harvest. This sconce pays homage to those ancient beliefs, celebrating the enduring interplay between nature and human imagination.
