Designed circa 1922, the Cube Armchair distills Jean-Michel Frank's minimalism into a single geometric volume — a squared sycamore frame softened by a curved, enveloping back. It furnished some of the most celebrated interiors of the period, among them Madame Cerf's grand salon and Cole Porter's music room. Working in the gap between the extravagance of Art Deco and the rigor of the modernist movement, Frank invented a third path: an elegant spatial expression through restraint.
