The Cleft series references pre-industrial rural archetypes through its use of the ancient craft of wood-cleaving. Coppiced oak is split along the grain, giving character and strength, whilst the unique shape of the leg follows that of the branch from which it came. The stool can be used as a sturdy utility object or, in combination with tweed cushion and leather apron, as something much more luxurious.
