Product Information

CATHERINE DIX

Catherine Dix first discovered clay in 2012, in southern Aveyron, during a training-course at the Pottery of Lucante, with Marcel Muller.

Recently, Catherine started working around the bottle.  A common, everyday object she choose to divert from its primary function to turn it into a sculpture.

Catherine works on unique pieces or in small series and uses different shaping techniques depending on the direction and the rendering she wants to give to her work. Potter’s wheel, coil-built, slab-built, stamping, and the choice of clay.

Working with several stonewares : red, white, brown, black which are all grog clay. The grog gives structure to the clay and makes it more refractory. This type of clay is chosen for its crude and primitive look using an electric kiln and fire at 1280 C°.
